Review: Tommee Tippee Silicone Bib

This is a Tommee Tippee silicone bib:

It has a pocket at the bottom. It is adjustable for different sized necks (although your kid would have to be built like a tighthead prop to use the largest setting) It’s made of silicone. It wipes down easily, and can be washed in a dishwasher if you so desire.

I think they’re technically called the ‘Roll n Go’ bib, if you’re searching around on the web for them.

Cost was about AU$10 about three years ago. A quick Google search indicates that they’re going for around four quid in the UK, so that sounds like it’s still about right.

These are really handy, in that your kid’s inevitable mealtime spillage is caught in the pocket at the bottom of the bib, instead of landing on their lap, leaving them with a clean shirt / top, but with filthy shorts / skirt.

Mostly.

Our kids are rather enthusiastic eaters, so ‘mostly’ probably describes the best result possible for any solution short of cutting a head-hole in a 6m x 6m plastic drop sheet and generous application of a firehose.

A friend also introduced us to an alternative usage that’s pretty cool – at smoko time (oh, OK, ‘morning tea’ then, fine…) fill up the pocket with some sultanas, Cheerios or the like, and your little dude or dudette can munch away on the go. Best outside, see my note about enthusiastic eaters. This also works pretty well for feeding time if you’re in a car; it may reduce the number of times you have to turn around and pick up the kids’ lunch to under 1.4 million / hour.

Recommended.
